Dr. Msizi Myeza celebrates 2024 DPWI Bursary recipients, inspires dedication to a resilient tomorrow
Minister Dean Macpherson,
Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala,
MEC Matome Chiloane,
MEC Jacob Mamabolo,
Director General Mr. Sifiso Mdakane,
Chairpersons and CEOs of Public Entities, and most importantly, the award recipients,
Today is symbolic in many respects. Firstly, we celebrate the 2024 Bursary Awards recipients, as we rightfully should. Your achievement represents a significant milestone not only in your academic journey but also in your commitment to shaping a brighter future for yourselves and our nation.
It is important to reflect on the journey you have undertaken. When the Class of 2024 began Grade 1 in 2012, there were 1,208,973 learners enrolled across the country. After 12 years, you are among the 615,429 learners who successfully obtained their National Senior Certificate. This achievement is even more remarkable when we consider that about 504,000 learners did not complete their journey. Your success stands as a testament to your hard work, dedication, and unwavering resolve.
Today is also significant because you have been chosen among many to serve our nation, whether in the private or public sector. This is not merely a career choice; it is a calling. A calling that demands not just effort but a lifetime commitment to professionalism and Ubuntu.
The built environment is far more than just buildings and infrastructure. It is a canvas upon which our collective humanity is expressed. Your role in this sector will be pivotal in enabling our society to function more efficiently while inspiring us all with the aesthetic appeal of well-designed spaces.
I want to reassure you that you have made the right decision in pursuing your education in the built environment sector. It is a fulfilling and meaningful career path. The Council for the Built Environment, alongside our industry partners, will support you every step of the way on this enriching journey.
I encourage you to register on the CBE Built Environment National Logbook, join student chapters, and actively participate in the career development programs we offer. These initiatives will enhance your educational journey and help you realize your full potential.
Finally, I urge you to strive for excellence, remain hungry for knowledge, and continue to make us and your loved ones proud.
I, thank you.
