Ministerial High -level dialogue with academia: “Bridging the Gap”
The Council for the Built Environment (CBE), an entity of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure invites media to a High-Level Minister’s Dialogue theme “Bridging the Gap,” in collaboration with tertiary institutions, focusing on South Africa’s infrastructure sector.

Location: Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS), Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Time: 11:00 – 15:00
This dialogue aims to create sustainable partnerships that leverage academic insights to tackle infrastructure challenges, following outcomes from the recent Public Works and Infrastructure Summit. Around 100 delegates, including Deans and Heads of Departments from major universities, will discuss collaborative opportunities.
Key speakers include the Minister of DPWI, Mr. Dean Mcpherson, and the Executive Mayor of Stellenbosch, Cllr Jeremy Fasser.
Discussions will revolve around three thematic areas:
- Bridging the Gap: How Academia Can Support Evidence- Based Policy & Infrastructure Decisions
- Future-Proofing the Built Environment: Skills Development & Capacity Building for Public Infrastructure Projects
- From Research to Reality: Driving Innovation & Sustainability in Infrastructure Development
