The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) and the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agency (MISA) concluded a strategic partnership to advance professionalisation and skills development in South Africa’s public sector. This collaboration was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Pretoria.
This MOU gives effective the Built Environment Professionalisation & Skills Development Strategy, which is coordinating initiatives to build technical capacity, facilitate professional registration of black candidates particularly women, and promote transformation throughout the built environment.
Through this MoU, CBE and MISA will work together to:
- Strengthen technical capacity in municipalities to improve infrastructure delivery.
- Facilitate professional development by providing mentorship and support for registration across built environment disciplines.
- Promote knowledge sharing and transformation through collaborative platforms and implementation of the Skills Pipeline Strategy.
- Support artisan and water sector development via targeted training and mentorship programmes.
- Advance climate resilience by integrating climate-smart practices into infrastructure planning, disaster management, and municipal operations.
Dr. Msizi Myeza, CEO of the Council for the Built Environment, stated: through this partnership with MISA will assist us in developing fit for purpose professionals that are technically competent and ethical to support government of infrastructure.
