The Council for the Built Environment (CBE), in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI), invites members of the media to a Youth in the Built Environment and Infrastructure Expo, under the theme ‘‘Empowering youth building a skilled future”

This is in line with the country’s 2025 Youth Month theme, which is “Skills for the Changing World – Empowering Youth for Meaningful Economic Participation.”

The Youth Engagement is part of the broader agenda of DPWI to ensure that young people are empowered to access opportunities in the infrastructure development sector and are exposed to the built environment sector. Furthermore, the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Dean Macpherson, is driving a vision to establish South Africa as a construction hub, with a key focus on stimulating economic growth and creating opportunities for youth through strategic infrastructure projects.

It is anticipated that about 300 young people will attend. Key speakers include the Minister of DPWI, Mr. Dean Macpherson, and the Executive Mayor of Mbombela Local Municipality, Cllr Ms. Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko.

We are therefore extending an invitation to you to attend and participate in the programme at the upcoming Youth in the Built Environment and Infrastructure scheduled for:

Date: 14 June 2025,

Venue: Mbombela Civic Theatre, Mbombela, Mpumalanga

Time: 09h00-15h00
