CBE to promote Universally Accessible and Inclusive Spaces
“Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy: Creating a Disability-Inclusive Society for a Better Quality of Life and the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”
The Council for the Built Environment (CBE) will convene its Annual Built Environment Colloquium for Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2024 under the theme “Empowerment through Inclusion and Innovating Universal Accessibility,” which highlights the urgent need to promote universally accessible environments so that all people, regardless of their abilities, can participate fully in society.
This significant event aims to bring together key stakeholders in the Built Environment (BE) sector to promote the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities as well as highlight Universal Design and Access (UDA) principles that foster inclusivity and remove barriers that limit equal access to spaces and services.
Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM) is a critical reminder for us to promote the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.
As we observe DRAM, the built environment sector stands in solidarity with individuals with disabilities, advocating for their rights, dignity, and inclusion in all aspects of society.
It is also providing an opportunity for mutual learning and recognize the need for advocating for policies that empower individuals with disabilities. We invite built environment professionals, civil society, government representatives, and private sector stakeholders to join us, as we embark on this journey toward building an inclusive future for all.
